Learning Points

From this comparision of the two sites, I have learnt to appreciate the creation of a website even more than usual. I feel that by doing this comparision, i can improve my website. Through this exercise, i have learned that colour contrast is important.

Not only that, i have also realized that to prevent my webpage from looking boring, i have to try to put lesser words and more pictures into my website.

I feel that some ways to do this is by adding audio and video. Also, i have to make sure that my navigation system is not misleading. One way to do this is by having proper headings for the navigation. Another way is by going directly to the wanted webpage instead of going everywhere on the webpage.

Therefore, i feel that this exercise has given me an opputunity to create a good webpage which will appeal to its targetted audience.

Conclusion: Which is the better website???

From the two websites discussed, i think that Website 1 is a better website. This is because of the smooth navigation, layout of the page and of course the pages leading to the other web pages, i feel that Website 1 is a better website.

However, this does not mean that Website 2 is not worth visiting. This is because website 2 also has valuable information. This website is definetly worth the visit if one does not mind the long boring simple white pages filled with a pic or two and a more than 10,000 words.

In conclusion, both websites are appealing to their target audience. However, i think that Website 1 is more effective and much more appealing.

Differences: Navigation System of Website2

Now, ill be talking about the navigation system in this website. As you have seen in the previous post, the website had a very simple and clear navigation system. However, you will see in this website's navigation system that it has links which link to another page filled with links. This continues until u reach another webpage which is plain and boring. This page of course has a navigation at the end of the page. The picture below will illustrate what i actually mean.
The enlarged version of the navigation box in the bottom of the picture shows 3 links. By pressing on any of the link a user will have face again another webpage filled with links. Usually user prefer to have direct answers and most of the information in just one click. However, through this website a user will feel mostly frustrated as they are being leaded topage after another. If compared to the other site, the navigation is so much more appealing.

Differnces: Navigation System of Website1

Now, moving on to the next comparision will be on the navigation from one page to another page within the website itself. The website i am going to talk about first has a pretty good navigation system in my opinion.

The left corner of the picture has the navigation box of the main page of the website. Each of the navigation box has a heading. In this case, if one happens to choose volcanoes, users are leaded to the volcanoe main page. The navigation is always at the bottom of the page for this volcanoe site and it leads to another page. The good thing about this site is that the navigation bar is designed in such a way that an user can maneuver their way through the volcanoe website easily. The navigation bar here also has a HOME box which leads back to the main page containing the vertical bar. Due to the clear headings and proper navigation, i think that users will feel its easier to navigate through the website easily.

Differences: Layout of Website 2

In the previous post, i had discussed about the vibrant website. Now, ill discuss about the other website which is not really as vibrant as the site before. The second website which i am going to discuss about, has a very boring homepage in my opinion. Even though, the whole home page is boring, it has lot of information and is very wordy.

The picture on the left has one picture or video. This may look interesting but these follow a lengthy explaination.

The picture on the left shows the whole main page of
the website. From the picture, one can tell that it is organized
very messily. The website looks like one used nested tables.
All the information or pictures are put all over the place.
Also, the starting page itself is way too simple and it doesnt really
appeal to ones' eye.

Differences: Layout of Website 1

Both the websites have different types of look. One website has a simple front page with less words, more colours and a very good navigating system.

At the same time, each of its page is clearly written with less words, more pictures or diagrams explaining processes and there is a navigation box always leading to another page at the end of the page.

In the above diagram, the boxes in the green coloured box is where the navigation system is located helping to access to another page. The content within the pink box is where the picture or diagram is situated. On the top where there is a yellow box contain a few words explaining the diagram. Both the sub pages which are shown above from the site are very precise to the point and are not wordy. The colour contrast is also pretty good in the site.

Info on the Websites:SIMILARITIES

Bonjour again!!
In this post, im going to talk about what is common between the 2 websites so that a fair comparision can later take place.

Firstly the 2 common things of the website are the content. Both content are related to the subject of natural disasters. While one website covers both volcanoes and hurricanes

, the other covers only volcanoes

Other than having the same content, both websites have 2 other things in common. The goal of both websites is to educate people on volcanoes or natural disasters depending on the websites. Another thing both the websites share is the targetted audience that they are trying to appeal to. Both websites are trying to appeal to students who need information on natural disasters or volcanoes. The proof for the first website is :

the navigation bar

and the layout of small fonts and pictures like:

As i have stated before that both websites are trying to appeal to students, now the proof for the second website to confirm this statement.

The image on the left shows the target audience which is for the purpose of educating the public and give out more information on volcanoes. At the same time, this website is administered by an university therefore, one can deduce that the website can not only be used for information on volcanoes but also for research material. Also at the same time, the titles in the navigation bar make the website seem as though the purpose is to attract students or kids to come and know more about volcanoes.
Now, since i have identified the similarities, it makes the job of deciding which website is better much easier. This is of course only after comparing the 2 websites.
